History permeates the Charles Inn, which, with its elegant verandas, is a fine example of Georgian architecture. Built in 1832 by Charles Richardson, a member of Parliament for Niagara, it was later bought by Robert Gooderham, whose father founded Toronto’s Gooderham and Worts Distillery.
The rooms have recently been renovated, but they retain the feeling of a historic manor house – albeit it with modern amenities such as sumptuous bed linens and whirlpool baths. Niagara’s reputation as one of Ontario’s prime agricultural regions is evident from the menu which showcases regional produce and local wines served in the Olde Town Dining room, the inn’s former parlour.
Within walking distance is Queen Street with its dozens of specialty shops and theatres, home of the Shaw Festival, one of Canada’s leading cultural events. Cyclists and walkers can enjoy the nearby Niagara River Recreation Trail, a scenic path along the waterway.

The Epicurean opened in the summer of ’91 in a converted warehouse on the main street in Niagara on the Lake. From day one our concept has been to provide good quality meals at reasonable prices with fast pre-theatre service. Our location in the centre of the theatre district is ideal. To ensure rapid service we operate as a (gasp!!) cafeteria.
We are fortunate to have a huge butternut tree in the “forgotten” space at the rear of our building. We built a garden patio around the base of this tree. The result is a truly gorgeous hide-away, just a few steps off the busy main street yet in a quiet world by itself.
It became apparent that in the evening our customers really prefered full table service, even if they were headed for the theatre. In response we close The Cafe each day at 5.30 pm and simultaneously re-open as The Bistro.
The Bistro provides full table service with a small but elegant menu. It offers excellent food at reasonable prices. This policy extends to our wine list. Our maximum markup on wine is $12 a bottle (or bring your own wine – $12 corkage fee) so wine with your dinner is a real bargain.
Virtually everything we serve at The Epicurean is made by us on the premises. We have been fortunate to attract and retain the highest quality of staff. Manager Ann Froese has run the lunch counter for 10 years and is well known for her bright smile and indefatigable energy. Our chef manages the food preparation for both the day time Cafe and the evening Bistro.
We are proud of the quality of the dining experience offered at The Epicurean. The success of the formula is attested by the large number of customers who return to eat with us every year. As well The Epicurean has had favourable mention in newspapers as far removed as The Los Angeles Times, The Times of London and US Today as well as many of the papers from cities round the Great Lakes.
At Escabèche, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Chef Andrew Dymond creates an original menu from the finest ingredients, both locally grown and imported from around the world. Out of this, he fashions dishes steeped in the traditions of France and England and strikingly original in their execution.
Chef Dymond has developed close relationships with the Niagara Region’s best producers. He uses organic greens grown locally at Wyndym Farms, often harvested just hours before being served. Chef’s philosophy: “Don’t overdo food. Treat it with the utmost respect in the most natural form, and you’ll get the best presentation and product.”
Our Sommelier Fred Gamula will guide you through our collection of wine, thoughtfully selected from the most prestigious vineyards in the Niagara Region and around the world. Or, if you prefer a less formal dinner, stop by the Churchill Lounge, and enjoy a menu of sandwiches, pastas, or classic English fish and chips.
Churchill Lounge, a more informal atmosphere in a library setting, provides another cozy spot to dine and relax. Enjoy a refreshment and a bite to eat on Churchill Lounge’s outdoor patio located on the most picturesque corner in town. A visit to the Prince of Wales is not complete without afternoon tea in the lovely Victorian Drawing Room. Revel in the authentic English tradition by sampling teas and succulent pastries in the most beautiful tea room you’ll ever see.

Old Winery Restaurant
Come share the bold, flavourful cooking of the Old Winery Restaurant. We’re serving up fresh Mediterranean Cuisine inspired by the Tuscan countryside, traditionally prepared and served in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Delicious pizza from our wood burning oven, crispy chicken, the freshest seafood, savory meat & vegetable pastas, grilled fish, salads, sandwiches, homemade desserts and many regional Niagara wines by the glass.
In the Italian countryside, it’s the simple things in life that matter most. There, people measure wealth not by money, but by friends. Food is their centre. And every meal is an excuse to get together and celebrate life. That’s the premise of the Old Winery Restaurant.
In the age-old tradition of the Italian trattoria, the sight, sounds and aromas of authentic Mediterranean cuisine are recreated here, fresh everyday. Set in a beautifully restored old winery building, we’ve created a community meeting place. Here, like in the Italian trattorie, you’ll experience an invigorating and lively atmosphere where you can enjoy delicious food that is modestly priced. You can even sit out on our deck overlooking Butler’s Creek. Close your eyes; you’ll think you’re under the Tuscan sun.

Pubs and Roadhouses
Welcome to the Irish Harp Pub Where we’re located: 245 King St. Niagara-on-the-Lake L0S 1J0
Tel: 905-468-4443 Fax: 905-468-5553
Cead Mile Failte Designed to traditional Irish standards, the Irish Harp Pub offers great food, great beer, great whiskey and old-fashioned Irish “craic” (fun and chat).
The craic is a spirit. An essence you can sense in a busy pub. The craic is impossible to bottle but somehow we manage to do just that.
Most Irish pubs started as spirit grocers. The Irish Harp is located on what used to be the local grocery store, built in 1913. The owner, Trevor Smyth lovingly restored the old building in 2006 to what you see today. Trevor comes from County Derry in Ireland and has brought to Niagara-on-the-Lake the traditions and spirit of the Emerald Isle.
So come on down, try our food and have an unforgettable time at the Irish Harp Pub!

Willow Cakes & Bakery
It is hard to say what pastry chef and proprietor Cathy O’Donnell is best known for – her incredible breads, decadent cakes, or her decidedly delicious pastries. Unquestionably, they are all worth the trip to Willow Cakes and Pastries in Niagara-on-the-Lake, christened “a place of pilgrimage for anyone with a sweet tooth” by James Chatto in the LCBO’s Food and Drink magazine.
Stepping into Willow Cakes and Pastries feels like a trip to the Continent and a European patisserie. Customers experience the feel of both a local bakery and an exquisite boutique – surveying the breads, chocolates, cakes and tarts in gleaming display cases, watching Cathy and her team at work through the viewing window or lingering over coffee and a newspaper.
Whether you are in the market for a show stopping wedding cake, a dessert to impress your guests, a gift to be savoured, or a coffee and quick bite on the go, Willow Cakes and Pastries is truly a “must stop shop” in Niagara.
